Sports
The purpose of the Alisal Union School District's Sports Program is to provide underprivileged youth with enriching experiences beyond the regular school day that focus on developing the whole child that range from physical education and a variety of sports options that they may otherwise would not have access to due to limited resources and transportation. These experiences are designed to build self-esteem, parent involvement and a positive outlook towards school that ultimately increases student achievement. Our goals are to provide a safe and healthy after school environment for at-risk youth, enrich and empower our children to explore their potential, build on their interests and strengths, celebrate their achievements and grow socially and emotionally with their peers through activities supported by culturally responsive mentoring, collaboration and teamwork.
Our programs currently proudly serve approximately 2,000 students throughout the school year in third through sixth grade. We have girls, boys and coed teams. During the fall we host soccer, flag football and volleyball, in the winter we have basketball and during the spring there is soccer. Each sport consists of weekly practices accompanied by games each Saturday of the season with a culminating tournament.
