The Alisal Union School District celebrated the completion of a new kindergarten wing at Creekside Elementary on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 3 pm.
This is the third kindergarten wing the District completes with Universal Prekindergarten state funds. The Creekside Kindergarten wing has three classrooms and a new play structure.
The ceremony included performances by the District’s Aztec Dance troupe and award-winning Cheer squads.
While other school districts have struggled to ramp up offering transitional kindergarten, the Alisal Union School District has now TK classrooms at all its 12 schools.
The District received Universal Pre-K funds to help finance the project, which cost an estimated $5 million. Previous to Creekside, the District built kindergarten classrooms at Chavez and Loya.
The completion of the Creekside Kindergarten wing marks the 7th major construction project the District has completed in the last five years. Other projects include the re-construction of Alisal Community School and Fremont Elementary, along with the kindergarten wings.
