About the Director

Julio Castro was born and raised in Salinas, California, and promoted from César E. Chávez Elementary School at the Alisal Union School District. Julio Castro earned his Bachelor of Arts from California State University Monterey Bay and a Master of Public Administration at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.

 

Julio is passionate about education and worked for over a decade at California State University Monterey Bay in International Education Programs and College Support Programs. Julio volunteers with non-profit organizations centered around youth development and higher education.

 

As Community School Coordinator, Julio supported the planning and implementation of the Community Schools strategy, working with staff, parents, and students all across the district. As the Director of Family and Community Engagement, he supports the 12 Community School Sites in addition to the 3 Family Resource Centers.
