Welcome to the Alisal Union School District. We are located in the heart of the Salinas Valley in Central California and serve over 7400 K-6 grade students. “When we enroll one student, we enroll the entire family,” is our motto. We take pride in providing our community with educational and community resources to assist our children.

Closing the achievement gap is extremely important in our school District. To address this important agenda, we are working with our schools’ staff to address the importance of writing across the curriculum, applying student data to our learning strategies, and raising our expectations for all students. During this year, we are using more classroom strategies in teaching writing, teaching English Learning, and in the analysis and application of student data.

As Superintendent of Schools, my focus is to improve the academic outcomes of our students and to improve the facilities of our School District. Over the course of the last few months, we have placed a temporary modular school at Cesar E. Chavez and at Creekside Elementary Schools. In addition, modular classroom buildings have been brought to Dr. Oscar Loya and John E. Steinbeck Elementary Schools to accommodate classrooms that have been displaced due to the water intrusion repairs needed. These Classrooms and many of the multipurpose rooms will be fixed over the next 12 months.

Moreover, I want to thank the classroom teachers, site leaders and staff for their patience and willingness to move their classroom during the midyear. We have many challenges ahead of us, however none that cannot be overcome. My commitment is to work tirelessly as an advocate for our students, their families and for the betterment of our community.
Best wishes for a successful school year!
