Monterey County residents were treated Sunday to the talents of our Alisal Union School District artists.
On Sunday morning, our Mariachi Juvenil Alisal performed under the Highway 101 overpass on East Alisal St. during Ciclovia, an annual event for families to enjoy time in the outdoors walking, bicycling, skating and more. They played for nearly two hours, during which time they had an opportunity to demonstrate their ever-growing artistic skills. The crowd that applauded them kept growing as well!
Later in the day, our All Star Drumline and Color Guard opened up the performance portion of "Light up the Night," a tribute to Paulette Lynch at the Sunset Center in Carmel. Lynch recently retired as the executive director of the Monterey County Arts Council, and members of the arts community wanted to show their appreciation for Lynch and all she's done for the arts. All the performances were top-notch, and our students did not disappoint. They opened up the celebrations with a bang!
