Foklorico Extravaganza

The Alisal Union School District, in partnership with Tonatiuh Danzantes del Quinto Sol and the Alisal Center for the Fine Arts held its Winter Foklorico Extravaganza on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7 and 8 respectively.

Creekside Dancers

Most of our students who participate in after school foklorico from Sanchez, MLK, Loya, Creekside, Frank Paul and Monte Bella elementaries had a chance to perform dances from Jalisco, Guerrero, Michoacan, Oaxaca, Sonora, Yucatan, Tamaulipas, Campeche, Nuevo Leon, and Nayarit -- a whirlwind tour to the Mexican Republic!

Dances from the northern Mexico

Ramon Silva, executive director of Tonatiuh Danzantes del Quinto Sol, has amassed a collection of folklorico dances from Mexico over the two decades he's been teaching. He's partnership with Alisal Union School District goes back most recently to five years ago, but he began Tonatiuh 25 years ago at Frank Paul Elementary.

Dance from central Mexico

Hundreds of parents packed the Alisal Center for the Fine Arts at the Breadbox to see their children perform. It was a beautiful testament to the hundreds of hours that our teachers put in. The students looked excited to be performing for their families and to be showing off their artistic talents. Don't miss it next time!
