- Alisal Union School District
It is the season of giving -- please consider giving!
There are many charitable causes worth supporting this holiday season, and we would like to point you to three of them -- because they benefit our students or because they're organized by our employees.
The Transportation Department of Alisal USD is collecting clothes to deliver to the victims of the Camp Fire. As everyone knows, the town of Paradise was devastated by the Camp Fire, and there are thousands of people now displaced in Northern California with the winter fast approaching. If you'd like to donate gently used winter clothes, please bring them to 427 Bardin Road. Ernie Camacho and the Elks Club are coordinating the clothes drive, which will end on Dec. 14.
Children's Shopping Tour
Volunteer chaperones are needed for the Children's Shopping Tour! Every year the event partners with local business, schools, and members of the community to take hundreds of local children shopping for school and winter clothing. These children are some of the neediest in our community. The impact this event has in our community and on the children is tremendous, and 128 children from our district benefit from this effort.
It takes $125 to sponsor one child, but any amount given brings the group, coordinated by the Salinas Chamber of Commerce, closer to the goal of helping hundreds of local kids. Your donation is tax deductible. Every dollar raised goes directly to the children. The organization is run 100 percent by volunteers. The group negotiates substantial discounts from merchants in order to stretch donated dollars even further.

Cesar Chavez Futbol Academy Toy Drive
Please help CCFA in collecting toys and/or cash donations in order to provide Salinas children and families in need with little extra support during the 2018 holiday season. Toys will be distributed Dec. 14 at the Alisal Family Resource Center. For information or volunteering, please contact Anthony Velasquez at 916-802-3827 or Carissa Purnell at 831-775-4511. All donations are tax deductible.
