Jairo Muñoz recognized for reading progress
Jairo Muñoz, a fourth grade student at Cesar Chávez Elementary School, was recognized on Wednesday at the regular Board Meeting of the Alisal Union School District. Jairo has been making extraordinary progress in his reading, to the point that he's now reading at the 6th level, said reading intervention teacher, Rebecca Bishop. She credited the program Read 180 for Jairo's success.
“Reading really changed my life,” Jairo told the trustees. “I want to keep reading harder books.”
Jairo attended the meeting with his father José Guadalupe Muñoz and his sister Alondra Gonzales.
There's a saying in Spanish that goes: Para muestra, basta un botón – which loosely translates to: for demonstration purposes, you only need a sample. Jairo is un “botón,” a small sample of the great learning that happens in our schools every day. Congratulations, Jairo. You make us all proud.
