The District Office has moved!
The District Office of the Alisal Union School District has moved to a new location on 155 Bardin Road in Salinas. We transitioned the week of March 26-30, so expect limited service and please be patient with us. We expect the new offices to be fully ready when we come back from Spring Break on April 3.
When we first moved to our current offices more than 30 years ago, we only had six schools and fewer than 6,000 students. Since then, we’ve grown to serve 12 schools and nearly 9,000 students and their families in three family resource centers. We had definitely outgrown the offices where we provide support for our dedicated teachers and non-teaching personnel. An opportunity to purchase the property on 155 Bardin came along after Victory Outreach closed its doors. The new district office will allow us to provide better accommodations for our hard-working office employees, and moving to one building will allow us to consolidate our business, human resources and education departments with our extended-learning programs. Most importantly, the move will allow office spaces currently at schools to be converted back to needed classrooms, something that will benefit our students.
Providing a solid educational foundation to nearly 9,000 students ages 4 through 12 and support for their families requires the concentrated efforts of close to 700 individuals — teachers, librarians, counselors, nurses, cafeteria workers, custodians, computer technicians, bus drivers, and more. At the District Office not only do we process their hiring, payroll, benefits, but we also plan the educational programs for our students and coordinate with our counterparts at the county, state and federal level. It’s laborious, behind-the-scenes work that is necessary to complement the world-class education our students are receiving in the classroom.
We're planning to host a Grand Opening on April 13.
