All across the district, students and staff honored the commemoration of the Battle of Puebla on Cinco de Mayo 2017. Take a look at the colorful outfits and styles sported by students and staff at Fremont and Cesar Chavez schools, the festive decorations on display at Bardin Elementary School, and the adorable little ones in our First Five Playgroups.
The Alisal Education Foundation hosted its annual Employee Recognition Dinner/Dance on April 21 at the Salinas Sports Complex. Hundreds of employees were in attendance to honor Alisal workers for their outstanding efforts this school year.
Alisal Union School District will begin testing students in grades 3rd through 6th on Monday, April 24, 2017. The assessments will test students’ mastery of reading, writing, and mathematics. Students in 5th grade will also be tested in science.

Tomorrow, Wednesday the 8th of March is “International Women’s Day.” However, as you may be aware, this year, Wednesday will also be a national one-day demonstration of economic solidarity, termed “A Day Without A Woman." Due to a power outage in North Salinas, the Boys & Girls Club of Salinas will be closed on Tuesday Feb. 21 and Wednesday, Feb. 22. There is some talk about a possible boycott tomorrow to support immigrant rights. Of course, the Alisal School District is fully supportive of immigrant rights, especially since so many of our families and staff (including me) are, indeed, immigrants who contribute so much to this country. Lower grade students all across the District today celebrated the 100th day of school. With the help of Zero the Hero (aka District TOSA Ben Cogswell), Ms. Rodriguez’ transitional-kinder class at Frank Paul was able to put movement to music and use the digit zero to pump up other numbers all the way to 100.
The Alisal Union School District (AUSD) has prepared a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment and Preliminary Environmental Assessment - Equivalent (PEA) Report in accordance with Education Code section 17213.1, subdivision (a)(4)(B). On January 18, 2017, the AUSD Board of Trustees adopted resolution 1617-27, designating AUSD as a Safe Havens School District. In doing so, the Board reaffirmed its commitment to the success of all students irrespective of their immigration status, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, sex and gender identity, socio-economic status, or ability.
